News

It is Snake Season Again

Recently a four-foot gopher snake was spotted near the practice range. Please do not hurt this snake or any other gopher snakes you may encounter. Along with our barn owls, they help to manage the population of gophers around our range. Just leave it alone. The following flyer is posted in a few locations around the club. Take a minute to familiarize yourself with the difference between a gopher snake and a rattlesnake. If you see a rattlesnake, inform me or another board member of its whereabouts and keep clear of that area. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Jim Teel Range Captain (818) 317-9110

Safety! Safety! Safety!

Sorry, but we can't say it enough. Our members have worked very hard to provide a Safe, Clean and Enjoyable environment for our sport. Please read over our Rules and Safety page before you visit the range for the first time.  We have a lot of young archers on the range.  It is up to us to set an example for the future of the our sport.

Don't Forget!

Blade Betts Eagle Scout Project

Blade Betts has been a club member with his family since he was 6 years old so when he was deciding what his Eagle Scout Project was going to be, he decided to give back to the club he loves…our Club. Seeing all the shoot and work party notices attached to the front gate and surrounding fence gave him the idea to build a new message board which is located to the left of the front gate. This gives us one centralized location for all of our notifications and will include some information about our club and events.

As you can see, he and his Dad Ben did a fantastic job!

A big Thank you to the Betts Family for your contribution to the Club and all your hard work

OBJFA (Junior Field Archers)

The Range

Occupying about 45 acres, Oranco Bowmen Archery Club is a NFAA certified 5-star range. This is the highest certification given by NFAA. It is the only range in Southern California with practice butts from 10-80 yards in 5-yard increments. If you need a place to "dial in" your bow, this is it!  Oranco also has two NFAA roving courses: Our Valley Course is a level 28-target course, consisting of 14 animal and 14 hunter paper targets. For those who desire a bit more of a physical challenge, our Mountain Course is a hilly 28-target course offering 14 Field targets and another set of 14 animal paper targets.  The Layout changes occasionally.  Range Map

Events

Oranco hosts 6 major shoots each year. Including 4 one arrow unmarked yardage 3-D tournaments, 1 mainly 3-D with three hand painted paper targets two arrow marked yardage shoot, and 1 two arrow marked yardage paper stump shoot.

The 3-D's are 42 target, unmarked yardage with one arrow shot at life-size foam animal targets. The marked yardage 3D shoot is named the Tomahawk, is done in an Indian theme and is designed to be as challenging as the Safari or the Silver Dollar to the top spot shooters.

We have plenty of camping room if you want to come out Saturday and stay the night before any shoot.
